Our Rustic Cabin is an independent cabin rental, separate from the main house at Persimmon Creek Cottages. This quaint Oklahoma prairie home has cedar siding and trim, giving it an overall woodsy atmosphere — perfect for lovers of the outdoors seeking peace and quiet on vacation.
This open-floorplan efficiency cabin offers room for just one or two guests, with a sleeping loft on the upper level and a picturesque living space below. Two twin-sized beds are settled between the eaves in the loft, fitted with plaid quilts and bookended by clothes storage drawers and a shared reading lamp.
The main living area on the ground floor features a cozy sitting room with two reclining armchairs and a flat-screen satellite TV. There is also a small kitchenette with a microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator, and a dining/workspace with a table and seating for two.
Rustic Cabin’s single full bath is adjacent to the sitting room, with a walk-in shower. This historic home has been fully renovated to include modern plumbing, wireless internet, wall-unit heating and air conditioning, and safety features such as a smoke and carbon monoxide detector.
Though small, Rustic Cabin has a wonderful open feel with plenty of natural light flooding in through the home’s large windows. Enjoy the simple life while you bask in the natural beauty of the open plain and the open sky overhead.
We highly recommend this rental for hunters looking to make the most of the outdoors, or to anyone looking for a one-of-a-kind remote getaway in Northwest Oklahoma. It also makes an excellent (and affordable) home-away-from-home while traveling on the job.
Rustic Cabin is settled just 18 miles from our local trade center of Woodward, where you can find the Plains Indian and Pioneers Museum, as well as seasonal favorites like the Woodward Elks PRCA Rodeo (in warmer weather), Nightmare in the Country (for Halloween), and much more!
Though our Rustic Cabin enjoys the peace and quiet of its remote plains location, it is located within about an hour to an hour-and-a-half drive from a number of memorable day trips! Recommendations include the Alabaster Caverns State Park, Boiling Springs State Park, Little Sahara State Park, the Selman Bat Cave Wildlife Area, and the Canton Lake and Lucky Star Casino.

We are Mick and Susan Young, both born and raised in Northwest Oklahoma some 60+ years ago. We decided to jump into the lodging business because we have a lot of space to share here in a wonderful country setting, but mostly we enjoy people. With retirement approaching, this seems to us to be a great way to spend our time. In July of 2008 we became the proud owners of a rapidly deteriorating 1902 farmhouse. Most people who knew of our intentions to move and renovate the house shook their heads and said we were crazy, but this wonderful piece of Americana needed saving and we wanted to be the ones to do it!
As if remodeling the original house was not enough to keep us busy, we decided to try to rescue a couple of other small buildings that we had noticed over the years. When we decided to try to acquire the first one, our thought was to use it as a garden shed. But, as we studied it, we decided it was too unique for a garden shed and thought it would make a great cabin. And...the idea of Persimmon Creek Cottages was born! Here we are now, nine years later, the main house all but done, the Rustic Cabin, Honeymoon Cottage and, in 2019, the Schoolhouse, all done and in use. As this journey continues, we are continually blessed by our guests. We have made lifelong friends through this venture and wouldn't have missed it for anything! We hope some of you who read this will want to come share in and become part of our story as it continues.
