The Schoolhouse at Persimmon Creek Cottages in Sharon, Oklahoma, is a newly renovated (as of Fall 2019) historic building settled on remote resort grounds with a sweeping view of the Northwest plains. This unique one-bedroom vacation rental sleeps two in rustic comfort.
The main floor of the Schoolhouse has a cozy living area with an open floor plan. This space includes a small sitting room with a reclining loveseat and two old-fashioned rocking chairs, as well as a propane stove and a 55-inch flat-screen Smart TV with connected satellite.
There is a kitchenette for warming and preparing your own meals at the Schoolhouse, complete with modern appliances such as a minifridge, a crockpot, a coffee pot, a microwave and a toaster oven. This home also includes central heating and air and free wireless internet.
A single private bedroom at this quaint Oklahoma prairie cottage has a queen-sized bed with an adjoining full bath. Access to the back porch and hot tub is through this main bedroom. At the top of a narrow staircase there are two more twin-sized beds and an attached half bath.
The Schoolhouse is the only independent rental at Persimmon Creek Cottages cabin resort to have its own outdoor hot tub. The hot tub is located inside a screened-in porch to the back of the house — perfect for relaxing in the fresh air, enjoying a drink or a meal, and watching the glorious Oklahoma sunset over the western view of the prairie.
The Schoolhouse is settled on scenic prairieland just 18 miles from the local trade center of Woodward, Oklahoma. Here you can find the regional Plains Indian and Pioneers Museum, as well as some seasonal events like the Halloween-time “Nightmare in the Country” exhibit or the Woodward Elks PRCA Rodeo, among others.
This remote Oklahoma cabin rental is also located within 60 to 70 miles of some beautiful state parks: Alabaster Caverns, Boiling Springs, and Little Sahara, as well as some other fun day trip attractions. Before you arrive, take some time to look into the Selman Bat Cave Wildlife Area, Foss Lake, or the Washita Battlefield National Historic Site.

We are Mick and Susan Young, both born and raised in Northwest Oklahoma some 60+ years ago. We decided to jump into the lodging business because we have a lot of space to share here in a wonderful country setting, but mostly we enjoy people. With retirement approaching, this seems to us to be a great way to spend our time. In July of 2008 we became the proud owners of a rapidly deteriorating 1902 farmhouse. Most people who knew of our intentions to move and renovate the house shook their heads and said we were crazy, but this wonderful piece of Americana needed saving and we wanted to be the ones to do it!
As if remodeling the original house was not enough to keep us busy, we decided to try to rescue a couple of other small buildings that we had noticed over the years. When we decided to try to acquire the first one, our thought was to use it as a garden shed. But, as we studied it, we decided it was too unique for a garden shed and thought it would make a great cabin. And...the idea of Persimmon Creek Cottages was born! Here we are now, nine years later, the main house all but done, the Rustic Cabin, Honeymoon Cottage and, in 2019, the Schoolhouse, all done and in use. As this journey continues, we are continually blessed by our guests. We have made lifelong friends through this venture and wouldn't have missed it for anything! We hope some of you who read this will want to come share in and become part of our story as it continues.
